Setting up Your Company in Iraq

Most foreign companies wishing to do business in Iraq are interested in investing and establishing a legal presence in the country. There are several options they may wish to consider regarding their incorporation. Some of them may want to extend into Iraq using a representative office, or conduct business through a branch; others may wish to incorporate a new Iraq entity or local partner like us. All of these options are available under the current Iraqi law depending on the needs, business, governmental contacts, and activities to be exercised in Iraq.

Foreigners may incorporate companies and trade representative offices or branches, operating in Iraq under the Companies Law 21 of 1997 – the Ministry of Trade Instruction No 196 of 2004 details the registration of Iraqi companies, while Regulation No 5 of 1989 explains the process for registration of branches or representative offices of foreign companies.
