Who We Are
IraqCanadaCham – Iraqi Canadian Chamber of Commerce is an independent, non-profit organization embarked on its journey in January 2017. We are a proactive, influential business organization dedicated to promoting and developing business opportunities between Iraq, Canada, and those to which the high commission, Canada and the Trade Commissioner Service in Canada and Iraq.
IraqCanadaCham is a voluntary not-for-profit member-based organization that contributes to economic development through the promotion of Canada-Iraq-regional trade and investment, business development, public policy advocacy, human resources development and business community outreach
IraqCanadaCham is more than a business initiator. It promotes best practice and international standards as well as transferring technology and know-how. Members also benefit from networking and exposure opportunities fostered by IraqCanadaCham, which strengthen the capacity of the business community and open the door for strategic alliances and partnerships between members. The entity, funded privately by its members, operates through independent secretariats in Canada, Baghdad, Basrah and Erbil.
Our Mission.
The Chamber’s mission is to serve as a resource and catalyst for its members and for Canadian companies in general in developing their business interests with Iraq. It offers a broad range of services by:
- Providing access to a broad cross-section of relevant contacts and to current information on investment and trade.
- Attract national and international investment related to Iraq-Canada. relationship.
- Reduce obstacles to Iraq-Canada trade and investment.
- Serving as a Canadian point of reference for Iraq trade missions and Iraqi private & public sectors.
- Strengthen the capacity of the Iraqi business community.
- Collaborating with similar organizations across Canada and with counterparts in Iraq.
- Providing networking opportunities for members by organizing meetings with high profile speakers, chosen for their significant knowledge of important issues of interest to members.
What We Do
IraqCanadaCham promotes Canada & Iraq business relationship, responsible business conduct and strategic approach to regulation, in addition to providing training and deliver different services, such as training services, technology services and development services, to improve access to basic services and promote economic growth in Iraq. These efforts will help strengthen the resilience of communities and government institutions.
We provide opportunities for business executives to meet on a regular basis and to exchange information about opportunities in Iraq & Canada. Such holds seminars and workshops, shares appropriate sources of information and consultation that educate our members and guests regarding trade and business opportunities, practices and regulations in Canada and Iraq and guidance on best practices in various business fields.
We work with a wide range of stakeholders including: government ministries, parliamentarians, civil society leaders, faith groups, business leaders, the security sector, religious leaders, educators, and where appropriate, rebel groups.
IraqCanadaCham has a close working relationship with local Iraq and Canadian governments and organizations such as the Iraqi Embassy in Canada, Calgary Chamber of Commerce, a social group for Iraqis in Canada. IraqCanadaCham offers various categories of membership – individual, corporate, gold, platinum. Members can enjoy a wide range of benefits and services.
IraqCanadaCham is managed by an Executive Director and professional staff. The Board of Directors is elected every 3 years by members. The President of the chamber is the spokesperson for the membership. IraqCanadaCham holds an Annual General Meeting and a Strategic Planning Meeting to further develop itself as a leading professional organization.
IraqCanadaCham also has a privacy notice. This notice describes how we collect and use personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 1998 and any other national implementing laws, regulations and secondary legislation, as amended or updated from time to time, in the UK (‘Data Protection Legislation’).
